Safety Net

Hello All,

What a wonderful experience we had this past Saturday traveling to SafetyNet Academy and witnessing the Baptism Service of 16 young men. It's events like this that reward us with glimpses of what God is doing in the lives of these boys at SafetyNet. Thanks to everyone who has invested a portion of their time and effort into this awesome ministry opportunity.

Here are the July ministry opportunities, so than you can plan your schedule:

Our next trip to SafetyNet Academy will be on Saturday, July 23rd. This will be the Water Wars event with water games and lots of fun activities. We will also be recognizing the July birthdays. We will be leaving Westwood at around 10:00 am, final details for this trip will come later this week. Please let Randy (Randy.Watts@bbvacompass.com) or myself (pingboy3@hotmail.com) know ASAP if you plan on attending, because the number of volunteers will effect the planning of some activities.

Kevin's ministry trip to Life Tech will be this Saturday, July 16th. Life Tech is a transitional facility for male parolees, and Kevin is looking for Men to step up and go with him to minister to these men. If you have never been, this is an amazing opportunity to share the love of Jesus, with a group of men, who so desperately need it. If you are interested, please contact Connie Derryberry (connie@kevinderryberry.com) for details.

Thanks Again,
Jeff Wallace

Serve Shelby County update

HUGE props and thanks go out to all the groups who made the first ever Serve Shelby County day the massive success that it was. know that your efforts on Saturday May 7 did not go unnoticed. The community thanks you and Westwood does too.

May SafetyNet Trip

This month's SafetyNet Academy trip will be on Saturday, May 21st. This month the event will be less "structured", to allow us to spend more time talking and praying with the kids one on one. We will be playing games (frisbee, football, basketball, etc) with the kids, and the goal is to give us a chance to really connect with the kids. We need to be prayerful for God to lead us, to give us a boldness to reach out and interact with the kids.

We will probably leave from Westwood at 10:00 am for this event. Please remain in prayer for the boys and staff at SafetyNet.

If you have an interest in going with the group,
you can contact Randy Watts (Randy.Watts@BBVACompass.com)
